Meet the Browns Comedy Show and Gospel Song Extravaganza starring David and Tamela Mann
AUSTIN, Texas – David Mann and Tamela Mann, also known as Mr. Brown and Cora Simmons from the hit TV series and movie “Meet the Browns,” will bring an evening of laughter and gospel music to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center Saturday, Nov. 12!
The ingeniously funny and extraordinarily talented actor David Mann has written, directed and produced numerous plays including the hit stage play “I Can Do Bad All By Myself,” where David remarkably immortalized the intrusively nosey and wisecracking neighbor, Mr. Brown. His bravo performance led the way to Mr. Brown becoming a principal character in many of Tyler Perry’s stage and film comedies including “Meet the Browns,” in which David reprised the role for mass audiences.
Tamela Mann, the sassy, high-spirited and multi-talented singer and actress, continues in the role of Cora Simmons, which she originated in Perry’s 2004 play “Meet the Browns,” and on the hit TBS comedy of the same name alongside her husband, David. Cora is the loving, churchgoing “but woe to those who cross me” daughter of Perry’s beloved Deacon Leroy Brown, played by her husband, and the iconic Madea Simmons. Tamela, who has always considered herself a traditional gospel singer, released her first album “The Master Plan” in 2009, which stayed at the top of the Gospel sales chart for almost a year.
