Austin, TEXAS –Since their inception in 1927, the Harlem Globetrotters have spread goodwill in more places than any team in sports history and Wednesday they will be sending Firefly Fisher to visit the Austin community in advance of the team’s official visit to the Frank Erwin Center on Sunday, April 11 at 3 p.m. Members of the media are encouraged to attend either of these special events. Harlem Globetrotter Advance Ambassador, Firefly Fisher, will be visiting with young fans at the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas on Wednesday, April 7 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Members of the media are welcome to join Firefly as he visits with the children in the third floor playroom and shows off some of his famous ball handling skills. Firefly Fisher will present the Harlem Globetrotters’ “C.H.E.E.R for Character” program for the Laurel Mountain Elementary YMCA afterschool program at 3:30 p.m.! The program, developed with assistance from the U.S. Department of Education and state educators, focuses on Cooperation, Healthy Mind & Body, Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility, using a C.H.E.E.R. basketball and Globetrotter signature ball handling.
