Press Releases April 7, 2008 CASTING CROWNS PLAY SOLD OUT SHOW AUSTIN, TEXAS – Following up the successful fall leg of their tour, the Casting Crowns kept with tradition by playing in front of an energized, packed house of 6065 last Friday night at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center. “The Altar and the Door Tour” kicked off on January 31 in Oklahoma City with featured guests Leeland and breakout artist John Waller. “The Altar and the Door Tour” comes fresh on the heels of Casting Crowns acclaim as the highest-ranking Christian music concert event of the fall, according to Pollstar magazine. The spring tour follows a fall filled with an unprecedented 20 sellouts in 36 markets. Adding a profound humanitarian impact worldwide, Casting Crowns united more than 8,000 children with sponsors through the World Vision child relief organization. Casting Crowns is the top-selling Christian artist of 2007 according to Billboard magazine, with the group’s RIAA Gold album The Altar and The Door selling more than 500,000 copies in the first 10 weeks following its historical debut at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. The album’s first radio single “East to West” spent a record-setting 14 weeks at No. 1 on Christian AC radio. Since 1977, the Frank Erwin Center has served Central Texans with some of the best in live entertainment. The multi-purpose facility located on The University of Texas at Austin campus, hosts a variety of events including concerts, theatrical performances, family shows and sporting events.
