AUSTIN, TEXAS – Since their inception in 1927, the Harlem Globetrotters have spread goodwill in more places than any team in sports history and Monday they will be sending “Hot Shot” Branch to visit the Austin community in advance of the team’s official visit to the Frank Erwin Center on Thursday, February 7 at 7PM.

Globetrotter Advance Ambassador, “Hot Shot” Branch, will be visiting with young fans at the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas Monday, January 28 from 11:15AM – 12PM. Members of the media are welcome to join Mr. Branch as he visits with the children in the third floor playroom.

Mr. Branch will also make an appearance at Forest North Elementary at 9:45AM and Oak Hill Elementary at 2PM While at the elementary schools, Mr. Branch will educate two classes of fourth graders on how to prepare for the challenges they will face as young adults through the Globetrotters “C.H.E.E.R. for Character” program. This program, developed with assistance from the US Department of Education, the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sport, and state educators, focuses on Cooperation, Healthy Mind & Body, Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility, using a C.H.E.E.R. basketball and Globetrotter signature ball handling skills. Members of the media are encouraged to show up to either of these special events.
