AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Frank Erwin Center will come alive with stirring music and detailed costumes on February 21 at 8PM. as The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and the Band of the Coldstream Guards march into Austin. In live performance, the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and the Band of the Coldstream Guards delight the eyes and ears of young and old alike.

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards is Scotland's only Regiment of Cavalry and has seen action in the Gulf in 1991, Kosovo in 2000 and Basra, Iraq, in 2003. Famous for their outstanding Pipes and Drums, which often perform at the Edinburgh Tattoo, they hit No. 1 on the British charts with their rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

The Band of the Coldstream Guards, one of the oldest in the world, was formed in 1650 as part of Oliver Cromwell's army. From its earliest days the Regiment had drummers, and a Band of Music was formed in 1742. Today, the Band of the Coldstream Guards consists of 49 musicians, who, apart from performing, see duty as medical workers, and in the event of a full-scale conflict, would be called upon to be stretcher bearers and field hospital assistants.
