JOIN THE FRAY AT THE THEATRE AT THE FRANK ERWIN CENTER JANUARY 29! Tickets Go On Sale This Friday, November 3
AUSTIN, Texas – The Fray, the earnest and electrifying band that rose to the top of the ranks in rock music with their platinum debut CD How to Save a Life, will bring their hit-making sounds to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on Monday, January 29. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 3. Experimental rockers MuteMath will open the show.
The Fray band members Isaac Slade (lead vocals and piano), Joe King (guitar and vocals), Dave Welsh (guitar) and Ben Wysocki (drums) hail from Denver, Colorado. They built a homegrown fan base in the Mile High City that branched out to the rest of the state by releasing a few popular EPs and peddling them to the local radio station and music magazine. After a rave review in Denver’s Westword magazine, subsequent honor of “Best New Band” by the publication’s readers and a slot as one of the 30 most played songs on the local radio station KTCL, the band was sought out by Epic Records. The Fray signed the dotted line on December 17, 2004 onstage at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado.
“The grassroots is where music lives and breathes, where it finds its energy and its passion,” says guitarist Welsh. “Music can still exist when it becomes mainstream, but only if it has firm roots with the fans at home. I think you become a musician at home, and simply refine that skill on the road as a touring, major label band.”
The Fray released How to Save a Life in September 2005. The album’s first single, “Over My Head (Cable Car)” quickly surged to No. 8 on the Billboard’s Hot 100. The band’s title track followed with even more success and climbed to No. 3 on the Hot 100 list in 2006.
