Press Releases October 13, 2005 NEIGHBORS IN NEED - AUSTIN’S KATRINA RELIEF CONCERT A HUGE SUCCESS!!
The Frank Erwin Center, a University of Texas at Austin Athletics Facility, hosted the Neighbors in Need hurricane relief benefit concert on September 21. Approximately 6,000 people enjoyed the incredible music which included performances by Willie Nelson, the Neville Brothers, Ray Price, Jimmie Vaughan, The Flatlanders, Patty Griffin, Bob Schneider and Eric Johnson. $223,170 raised from ticket sales was given to the Red Cross and its Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Sodexho Sports & Leisure Services, the in-house concessionaire of the Frank Erwin Center, contributed another $5,980 from t-shirt and poster sales. The University of Texas, the Frank Erwin Center, Austin Mayor Will Wynn, Clifford Antone of Antone’s Nightclub, Freddy Fletcher with Pedernales Records, Robin Shivers with RRS Management, and Direct Events worked together to put on this benefit concert.
