PRESS CONFERENCE REGARDING BENEFIT CONCERT FOR HURRICANE RELIEF AT THE FRANK ERWIN CENTER FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 at 10AM

In response to the devastating affects Hurricane Katrina had on the people of the Gulf Coast region, the University of Texas, the Frank Erwin Center, Clifford Antone, Direct Events and representatives from Mayor Will Wynn’s office are working together to put on a benefit concert for those left in need after the flood waters forced thousands of residents from their homes, schools and jobs. This press conference is for the media ONLY and will be held in the Frank Erwin Center’s Lone Star Room at 10AM tomorrow. Details regarding the benefit’s name, line-up, ticket on sale date, ticket prices and other information will be given at this time. The concert will be held at the Frank Erwin Center on Wednesday, September 21st. According to Associate Athletics Director John Graham, “Our mission at the University and the Frank Erwin Center is facilitating the opportunity for the Austin community to help our neighbors in need.” Willie Nelson has committed to perform at the benefit and many more artists are expected to join him on the line up. All proceeds from this concert will go to the American Red Cross.
