THE FRANK ERWIN CENTER

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Harlem Globetrotters will be bringing it ON at the Frank Erwin Center February 10. Easily the hardest working team in sports entertainment, the Globetrotters will dazzle you with their shooting skills, passing prowess and athletic antics. These 25 amazing athletes will be tipping off their “World of Fun” North American Tour in 2005, making it their 79th season. They have upheld a tradition that has managed to stand the test of time with constant innovation on their game and comedy routines.

“Our 2004 North American Tour was a record-breaking year for the Globetrotters and as we approach our 80th anniversary, we have grown more and more appreciative of the support we receive from our fans across the country,” said Globetrotters’ Owner and Chairman, Mannie Jackson. “In 2005, we are excited to bring our ‘World of Fun’ tour to 250 U.S. cities and 40 countries around the globe.” This four-month tour starts the day after Christmas with games in Pittsburgh and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Globetrotters have truly have earned their name, entertaining millions of fans in 117 different countries. Sometimes referred to as the Ambassadors of Goodwill, they are dedicated not only to their team, their audience and their communities - they make it their job to entertain, uplift and encourage children and adults wherever they go. They sign autographs and meet their fans at the end of their games, they visit schools, hospitals and youth based organizations and have raised and donated millions of dollars for local and national charities. Just this month they donated 1,000 of their signature red, white and blue basketballs to the Jamaican Basketball Association.
