Press Releases October 7, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Beastie Boys To Play Austin’s
Frank Erwin Center
AUSTIN, TEXAS – The “boys” that taught the world to fight for their right to party will be live at the Frank Erwin Center Friday, October 22. The 80’s pioneering rappers are on the road to promote their new album, To the 5 Boroughs. Released earlier this summer, the album is the first produced by the Beasties themselves. Originally formed in the early 1980’s, the band found success with Licensed To Ill (1986) and haven’t looked back since. They have released six total studio albums: the aforementioned Licensed To Ill, Paul’s Boutique (1989), Check Your Head (1992), Ill Communication (1994), Hello Nasty (1998), and their newest To the 5 Boroughs (2004). For To the 5 Boroughs, the boys kept it strictly hip-hop using few live instruments and sticking to just turntables and mics. Those who like the boys playing instruments need not worry though. When asked, MCA replied, “I am sure that we will get back into playing instruments again in the near future…” The Beastie Boys are made up of Michael (Mike D) Diamond, Adam (Adrock) Horovitz, Adam (MCA) Yauch, and supported by DJ Michael (Mix Master Mike) Schwartz.
