AUSTIN, TEXAS – One of the most influential and successful folk bands of the 60’s is back and better than ever. Peter, Paul and Mary are touring this fall and will play The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center Thursday, November 4 at 8 p.m. The legendary trio has won five Grammys, produced 13 Top 40 hits and earned six gold and three platinum albums along the way. In the 60’s Peter, Paul and Mary used their voices to communicate their personal, social and political imperatives through song and today are continuing the tradition of expression through music. Their message of humanity, hope and activism are still prevalent. The group recently released a five-disc career retrospective boxed set Peter, Paul and Mary: Carry It On that includes a DVD with bonus footage of key live performances such as “If I Had A Hammer” from the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech. The box set spans the years of 1960-2003 and also features more than 80 tracks. The box set complements the release of their first new studio album in over a decade “In These Times.” With the new album Peter, Paul and Mary affirm their unwavering commitment to their folk heritage and its legacy of social justice.
