Press Releases June 28, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE George Lopez Sells Out The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center
Austin, TX – Tickets were at a premium for George Lopez’s Saturday performance as the California comic sold out the Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center. Not a dry eye in the house could be found – the “Why You Crying” tour kept the capacity crowd in stitches for almost two hours. In fact, Lopez was scheduled to perform for only an hour and fifteen minutes, but the crowd was so responsive to the comic’s routine, Lopez went on for an extra 30 minutes! “My type of comedy is like jazz,” said Lopez after the show. “When the crowd is receptive like tonight, I can improv for hours.” And the fans were most appreciative; Lopez exited the stage to a thunderous standing ovation. If you missed Lopez at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center, you can catch his “Why You Crying” comedy special on Showtime or pick up his book, Why You Crying? : My Long, Hard Look at Life, Love and Laughter. Since 1977, the Frank Erwin Center has served Central Texans with some of the best in live entertainment.
