Press Releases FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 11, 2003 AUSTIN FAVORITE RETURNING IN FULL FORCE TO ERWIN CENTER Gibson-Baldwin Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout Tickets AUSTIN, TEXAS- Tennis’ premier exhibition event, Gibson-Baldwin Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout, is returning to Austin, Friday, April 30 for an annual who’s who of tennis and music. In a jam-packed gala, the Grand Slam Jam will combine world-class competitive tennis exhibitions and Austin-worthy musical performances. Scheduled to compete at this year’s jam are tennis legend Martina Navratilova and event founder Jim Courier with other special guests to be announced. Featured athlete Navratilova boasts a seven-time world ranking of No. 1 and holds the record for Wimbledon singles titles. Born in Czechoslovakia, Navratilova turned pro at the tender age of sixteen. In 1975, she defected to the United States and since the Open era began in 1968, no player – male or female – has won more tournaments than Navratilova.
