(Austin, TX)-The critically lauded, and 2003 Grammy winner for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, John Mayer is coming to Austin this November. John Mayer will be performing at the Frank Erwin Center on Sunday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. North Mississippi Allstars are scheduled to open the show. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 26 at 10 a.m. There will be an eight-ticket limit on the first day of ticket sales.
Mayer, who signed a record deal with Columbia records after performing at the 2000 South by Southwest music conference, has been impressing music industry critics since his debut album Room for Squares in 2001. Squares produced the popular radio hits “Why Georgia,” “Your Body is a Wonderland,” and “No Such Thing.” With the recent conclusion of a concert tour with the Counting Crows and the release of his highly anticipated sophomore CD, Heavier Things, Mayer is returning to Austin to entertain audiences with new songs and older favorites. Heavier Things, which includes his latest single, “Bigger Than My Body,” has been described by USA Today as “a contagious melody, an exhilarating arrangement.” Rolling Stone gave the album four stars and says Mayer’s new album is “more sophisticated…with an emphasis on interior life.”
Mayer has been compared to Bruce Springsteen in the connection he shares with his audience when performing shows. Impressing audiences and critics alike with his ability to entertain with only a six-string guitar, Mayer is sure to please fans.
Random Wristband Policy in Effect on First Day of Ticket Sales: Numbered wristbands to be distributed for a place in line on the first day of sales beginning Wednesday, September 24 at 9 a.m. through Thursday, September 25 until 6 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center and at all H-E-B stores in Austin and surrounding areas where Texas Box Office outlets are located. The beginning of the line will be randomly determined on Friday, September 26 before tickets go on sale. Wristbands guarantee a place in line, but do not guarantee tickets.
