Press Releases August 26, 2002 CHER CONCERT SELLS OUT THE FRANK ERWIN CENTER- LIVING PROOF THAT MULTI-TALENTED DIVA IS STILL HOT!
(Austin, TX)- It was an explosive night this past Saturday as Cher’s Living Proof Farewell Tour took to the Erwin Center stage. Cher sang hits from days long gone through present day. Close to 13,000 excited fans from Central Texas and other parts of the state found themselves enjoying a night they won’t soon forget. Fans sang and danced the night away; some dressed in their best diva attire to celebrate all that is Cher. Cher had the crowd completely enthralled from her spectacular entrance decked out in sequins to the closing number Believe. One fan was so overcome by her emotions at the show she was overheard saying, ”I actually cried!” as she exited the building. Comedian Tommy Drake opened the show. He warmed up the crowd by complimenting Texans on their pride and ripping into his home state of California for their lack of pride. Since 1977, the Frank Erwin Center has served Central Texans with some of the best in live entertainment. The multi-purpose facility located on The University of Texas at Austin campus, hosts a variety of events including concerts, family shows and sporting events. It is also the "home court" for both Men's & Women's Longhorn basketball teams. Media Contact: Anna Wong 512/471-3678
