Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance

Lord Of The Dance Is Dancing Its Way To The Top!

line

lodThe staggering success of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance can be described as nothing short of amazing. Flatley’s brilliant blend of traditional and contemporary Irish dance combined with a magical storyline creates an unforgettable event. Come see the most critically acclaimed tour of all time at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on April 17

Since Lord of the Dance first opened in 1996, it has broken records worldwide and is the biggest grossing tour in the history of entertainment! Flatley is the creator, director and main choreographer for the show and his talent shines its brightest as you watch stunning dance moves and enjoy a timeless story that will appeal to the young and old alike! Another reason for the success of the show is the music that blends effortlessly with the storyline. Composer Ronan Hardiman compliments Flatley’s vision for the show and the end result is a masterpiece production. This masterpiece has been seen by over 50 million people in 60 different countries and on every continent! This truly is an event of a lifetime and cannot be missed.

Lord of the Dance focuses on the battle of Good vs. Evil as the Little Spirit travels through time to help the Lord of the Dance protect his people from the evils of Don Dorcha, the Dark Lord. The story is sure to encompass the audience and bring them on a magical ride that includes many twists and turns, love, danger and desire. “I feel the show has such energy that it projects it to the audience,” says Marie Duffy Pask, the Dance Director for Lord of the Dance. She also states “I feel that the success of the show is greatly due to the wonderful young dancers and their dedication, and the energy that they project never fails to bring an audience to its feet.” Many reviewers and critics agree that Lord of the Dance will bring the audience to their feet and leave them wanting an encore.

The success of Lord of the Dance can be attributed to Michael Flatley’s evolving style of Irish dance. The original Irish dance style was performed mainly with the lower body and involved rigid movements. While Flatley was touring with the world famous Chieftains Irish band, he experimented with incorporating arm movements and heart-stopping rhythm into traditional Irish steps. The response was overwhelming and from that, the popular Riverdance was created by Flatley. Riverdance received many accolades and was met with praise from critics, but Flatley would leave the production after less than a year due to creativity differences. From this however, Flatley went on to create the most successful dance show of all time, Lord of the Dance, and an event well worth seeing.

Come be a part of the most exciting and memorable show of our time as Lord of the Dance takes the stage at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on Thursday, April 17 at 7:30PM.
