Even though the season finale of “So You Think You Can Dance” is right around the corner, the dancing doesn’t stop there for this season’s Top 10 dancers! The Top 10 finalists will head out in September on a whirlwind nationwide tour that will bring them to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on October 12. Fans can catch all of their favorite dancers perform popular routines from the hit TV show as well as new pieces choreographed for the tour. You can buy tickets before the general public, just for being an Applause reader!

All different types of dancers come from around the country to tango, salsa, and krump to be named “America’s Favorite Dancer!” According to the show’s creator, Nigel Lythgoe, “I think it's very tough to come here and get onto the show. So many people don't realize what we're looking for in dance. We don't just need technique; we need charisma, we need all of those things that sort of falls under the label of "the X factor". No one really knows what it is. It's something that some people have and other people don't. Now, add to that a dance technique and well and it's tough." This year’s Top 10 dancers that have proven to America and the judges they have “the X factor” include: Chelsie H, Comfort, Courtney G, Katee, Kherington, Gev, Joshua, Mark, Twitch and Will.

The popularity of dance reality TV shows in the US has led to the creation of spinoff versions all over the World, including New Zealand, Turkey, Israel, Canada, Germany, Greece, Poland, and Malaysia. Shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars” have really changed the perception of dance all around the world. "It's fired a lot of people across the country as far as, you know, enjoying the other dance styles because now we're seeing in dance studios across the country not only in ballet or jazz they're offering ballroom and hip-hop in that very same dance studio. It never used to be like that. It all used to be separate. Now it's all coming together and I just think it's great," says Mary Murphy, “So You Think You Can Dance” Judge.

Emmy-nominated “So You Think You Can Dance” was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, comes from 19 Entertainment Ltd. and dick clark productions, and is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Barry Adelman.
