Celtic Woman

Take a Journey With Celtic Woman

Celtic Woman was created by composer and musical director David Downes and Executive Producer Dave Kavanagh in 2004. Together they have created a wonderful story told through a musical ensemble comprised of five Irish female artists. To date, their story has been one of success. They have triumphantly completed four US tours, selling out at venues such as New York’s Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Opera House and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. Aside from live performances, Celtic Woman has also dazzled the television network with appearances on “The Today Show with Regis & Kelly,” “The Megan Mullaly Show” and on Brian Boitano’s “NBC Skating Spectacular” on New Year’s Day 2007.

Between their self-titled debut, their Christmas CD, A Christmas Celebration, and A New Journey, Celtic Woman has held the number one position on the Billboard World Music Charts for a record-breaking 95 consecutive weeks. With the best yet to come, Celtic Woman is becoming a group to watch as it grows in success.

Celtic Woman will be performing their beautiful story of “A New Journey.” This musical performance illustrates the troubles that Ireland once went through and how they have dramatically survived. It is a story of hope that leads people to believe that anything can happen on “A New Journey.” Through the elegiac lyricism, the five soloists have created a magical and emotional journey filled with dreams for the audience to leave inspired. They have been labeled as a “tour de force of talent” according to the Boston Herald.

“A New Journey” is reflective of Downes’ musical vision himself. Downes is “drawn towards music with many layers, many strands, many dynamics and I tend to think of our music as like a kaleidoscope: elements shifting in and out of focus at any given time.” The two-hour show combines the beautiful music from the group’s platinum albums, Celtic Woman and A New Journey. Downes states the women themselves, who are performing, “are the songs, in many cases, and are the reason for any Celtic Woman music to happen. Their voices and music bring that sound together, bring it to life.” The vocalist’s voices are spectacular and unforgettable. The songs are deeply stirring and something that will remain with you long after the memorable show.

Come prepared to be moved by this amazing story, the beautiful voices and the enjoyable experience. Listen intently as these five Irish female artists sing a collection of contemporary hits, classical favorites, Irish standards and original compositions written especially for the soloists by David Downes. Mark down your calendars for February 19 when Celtic Woman will appear on stage at The Theater at the Frank Erwin Center! Celtic Woman’s “A New Journey,” like all the best journeys, is an experience that you will never forget!
