Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance

In Step With Lord of the Dance

lod

Now touring the world in its eleventh consecutive year, Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance will tap right on over to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center to create an exciting atmosphere with Irish dance.

Michael Flatley is the sole creator, writer, producer and choreographer of Lord of the Dance, which premiered on July 2, 1996 at The Point Theatre in Dublin. The show’s premier, though occurring just eight weeks after its creation, caused the audience to go wild with applause. By the end of the night, the show received multiple standing ovations and rave reviews that caused it to become “the most talked about, most written about, and the most critically acclaimed show in musical history.”

Lord of the Dance is a show based on Irish folklore. This classic tale of Good vs. Evil, expressed through the universal language of dance, has thrilled audiences worldwide and catapulted Irish dance to a new dimension and extraordinary worldwide acclaim. Marie Duffy Pask, Dance Director for Lord of the Dance, believes in the strong connections made through Irish dance. “The power of the dance creates a strong bond between the dancers and the audience,” she says. “I think the show and the dancers are great ambassadors for Ireland and the Irish people.”

As the tale of Good vs. Evil continues and the story unfolds, the Little Spirit travels through time to help the Lord of the Dance protect his people from the challenge of Don Dorcha, the Dark Lord. As this evil dark power challenges the hero, the incredible adventure continues, drawing its audience into a mythical universe of love, danger and desire.

Michael Flatley’s timeless production has barely been out of the best sellers list, and for the last 11 years has continually established itself as the No. 1 dance spectacular. As Flatley says, “It’s absolutely fantastic being No. 1 and we intend to stay that way.” There is no doubt that Flatley is truly committed to his art and to giving his audiences a dance show that will leave them breathless.

The New York Post has called Lord of the Dance “fascinating, rewarding and above all entertaining.” The Los Angeles Times has described it as “a showpiece extravaganza.” Now is your chance to see for yourself just how amazing this show is! Make sure you are in the audience when Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance dazzles everyone at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on April 17!
