Surprise your valentine with tickets to see singing heartthrob, Michael Bublé at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center February 27 at 8 p.m. Bublé, known for his modern interpretations of standards from a variety of eras, is performing on his third major concert tour of the US. Don’t miss your chance to make this Valentine’s Day special with tickets to see this Grammy-nominated artist as he brings his irrepressible spirit, engaging humor, and confident charisma to Austin on February 27!

Call him irresponsible, but we call him irresistible! Michael Bublé is a performer who has it all, and now he has a date to light up the stage at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on February 27. With his smooth songs and charismatic performances, Bublé is sure to deliver a show that shouldn’t be missed.

Born Michael Steven Bublé on September 9, 1975, this Canadian star was destined for great things. Bublé was lucky enough to be blessed with a sensational voice along with incredible talent when it comes to playing the piano. It is no wonder that Bublé is a master at his craft because he was influenced by some of the greatest musicians known, such as the Mills Brothers. When asked about how he came about his passion for music, he did not hesitate to give credit to his grandfather by saying, “My grandfather was really my best friend growing up. He was the one who opened me up to a whole world of music that seemed to have been passed over by my generation. Although I like rock and roll and modern music, the first time my granddad played me the Mills Brothers, something magical happened. The lyrics were so romantic, so real... the way a song should be for me. It was like seeing my future flash before me. I wanted to be a singer and I knew that this was the music that I wanted to sing.”

Some strong influential artists in Bublé’s life are the late greats Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. This is highly reflected in his album, Michael Bublé, which showcases his own versions of past hits from artists like these. His self-titled debut disc showed off his knowledge and appreciation for a style of music that is mostly unfamiliar to his generation. The album features a range of standards from various eras including “Fever,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “For Once in My Life,” Van Morrison’s “Moondance” and Lou Rawls’ “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine.” The album really launched Bublé’s career and racked up numerous awards and plenty of recognition. After the album’s release in 2003, it quickly became familiar on the Canadian album charts. It then became successful on the charts in the UK, United States and Australia leading to the eventual platinum status of the self-titled debut. Songs like his versions of George Michael’s “Kissing a Fool” and Dean Martin’s “Sway” have topped charts and made Bublé a common name to all. Bublé has been described as “someone who has learned the art of popular song and is creating his own colorful music from shades of the past.”

Bublé’s second album, It’s Time, proved that he was more than capable of breaking through to a more mainstream audience. He continued to deliver chart-topping hits with a fresh sound that you just can’t help but hum along with. It’s Time was released in 2005 and was originally a huge success in both Australia and Canada. Soon after, he became a commercial success in the United States. By mastering classic hits such as “Come Fly With Me,” which was initially written for and performed by Frank Sinatra in the 1950s, Bublé received much recognition and esteem. The album’s hit single, “Home,” reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary Charts the year of its release. In that same year, it also frequented the Adult Top 40, Pop 100 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. Another chart-topper that sent Bublé’s popularity through the roof was his version of the 1960s song “Save the Last Dance for Me.” The Adult Contemporary Charts and the Billboard Top 100 both recognized the single’s credibility in 2005. Michael Bublé won four Juno Awards at the 2006 Juno Awards in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His awards included Pop Album of the Year for It’s Time, Single of the Year for “Home,” Album of the Year for It’s Time, and the award for Artist of the Year. He was also nominated for the Juno Fan Choice Award. Overall, Michael Bublé walked away with the most awards at the 2006 Junos!

Most recently, Bublé released his third album titled Call Me Irresponsible in May 2007. With this album, critics have said that he “has bridged the gap between standards-oriented vocal pop and more contemporary pop vocals.” Once again mixing it up with swinging numbers and classic pop hits such as the “Comin’ Home Baby” and “The Best Is Yet to Come,” the album has been described as “a breezy, stylish good time.” The laid back title track shows Bublé as a talented musician with a jazzy, mellow sound. Not only can Bublé impress listeners with hit classics, but he also captures attention with his upbeat originals. His hit single, “Everything” is widely appreciated and contributes heavily to the success of Call Me Irresponsible. The album was nominated for a Grammy in 2007 as Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and “Everything” was nominated for Best Male Pop Performance.

Michael Bublé will be bringing his talent and charisma to everyone at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on February 27, so hurry and get your tickets now!
