Korn Fall Tour Headed to Austin

Fall Out Boy Wild Things Art

Jam to the sounds of Korn and special guests Hellyeah, Five Finger Death Punch and Droid for the ultimate rock experience when the “Bi#%h We Have a Problem” tour hits the stage at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on Wednesday, October 17.

The band originally formed in Bakersfield, CA as LAPD with guitarists James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch, bassist Reginald “Fieldy Snuts”
Arvizu, and drummer David Silveria but lacked a solid lead vocalist. That changed in 1993 when they found lead vocalist Jonathan Davis and soon the quintet was renamed Korn.

Back in the post-grunge era, Korn’s heavy alternative metal sound proved popular and they found themselves touring to support their first album with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Marilyn Manson and 311. While it took a while for the first album to go gold, Korn’s second album, Life is Peachy, was an immediate smash and led to the band headlining the popular outdoor rock concert, Lollapalooza the following year.

In 1998, Korn created the well-known “Family Values Tour,” which brings together several bands to give the audience an annual experience of hard rock, metal and rap music. They headlined the tour in its first year and then passed the headlining spot to Limp Bizkit the following year. Korn later returned to headline the tour in 2006, and is currently wrapping up the 2007 “Family Values Tour” accompanied by bands such as Evanescence, Flyleaf and Atreyu.

With little rest, the “Bi#%h We Have a Problem” fall tour is scheduled to kick off on September 22 and is named after a track on the new Korn untitled album. This album is their eighth studio album and peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200. The sound on the new album varies a bit from the Korn of yesteryear with the departure of guitarist Brian “Head” Welch and drummer David Silveria but front man Jonathan Davis feels the change has led to growth in their musical creativity.

If you’d like a peek into what you can expect at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on October 17, check out the band’s MySpace page as several
songs from the set, including the lead single “Evolution,” are streaming there now.
