KORN

Takes Austin by Storm

KORN Art

Are you a fan of nu-metal music and want to see the band that created the genre? Come out to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on October 17 when Korn takes the stage for the “Bi#%h We Have a Problem” tour with special guests Hellyeah, Five Finger Death Punch and Droid. With the ultimate nu-metal experience underway, you have nothing to lose!

From Bakersfield, California, Korn kicked off their music career with a self-titled debuted album in 1994 which sold over 30 million copies worldwide. This set a record and has made them one of the best-selling nu-metal bands of the last fifteen years. Their eighth studio untitled album was recently released and was incorporated into their 2007 Family Values Tour. On the new untitled album, guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer says, “It’s still the Korn sound, just definitely more atmospheric. There’s more depth to it.”
The band is constantly striving to make each album more intense and more in depth with emotions. Korn claims that this album is “less pop and more experimental,” but that they are finally a solidified band in the rock world and now feel comfortable to take the album into a deeper direction.

The band is also very environmentally-friendly. They play at all of the “Live Earth” concerts and have stated in previous interviews that the concerts help to “raise people’s awareness about what’s happening in global warming and try to do their part and whatever they can each day to reduce, you know, energy usage and gasoline usage on whatever level. I think if people are, if their awareness is raised and they’re doing one or two things a day, each person, it could make a huge, huge difference.”

Also contributing to the hard metal performances will be Hellyeah, who began their musical career in 2003 and produced their first self-titled album in February of 2007. The album debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 Album Charts and their first single, “You Wouldn’t Know,” helped to put them on the map. People all over the United States learned the song within weeks of its debut and phone lines went crazy for requests. Hellyeah will be delivering a rockin’ head-banging performance!

Five Finger Death Punch will also be slamming on their guitars in the “Bi#%h We Have a Problem” tour. With their debut album, The Way of the Fist, entering the Billboard Top 200 on its first week out, this band has had an astonishing fast-paced beginning while being the most added record to Metal Radio nationwide. One can expect a great time from Five Finger Death Punch!

Droid, founded by Korn’s guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer, will also be performing some of their well-known songs such as, “Resurrection,” “Price of Honor” and “Fueled by Hate.” Droid, as a band, wants to be true to their metal backgrounds but also add a bit of flavor. The songs have a strong vibrancy that one can not ignore and it separates their sound from the typical metal.

With this fantastic four line-up, this show on October 17 is sure to be quite the unforgettable experience!
