Fall Out Boy

Attention: All Young and Wild Things!

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy, a unique punk-rock band originally from suburban Chicago, will be performing their energetic “The Young Wild Things” tour at The Theater at the Frank Erwin Center on October 23! Accompanied by Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T’s and Cute is what We Aim For, this is sure to be one magical night of musical mayhem that you do not want to miss.

Having a very down-to-Earth nature, Fall Out Boy appreciates every second of musical encounters. From the moment that they contemplate lyrics in their minds, to the heart-pounding adrenaline they receive on stage, Fall Out Boy does not take any of these instances for granted. They are known to “stay true to their roots,” not in the sense of how they view themselves, but rather in the sense that they write and perform music that sounds good to them. They do not conform to the musical trends surrounding them, instead they break through those chains and deliver innovative beats and harmony. Being driven from their hearts, and not letting fame get to their heads, Wentz states, “I don’t think of music as a career until certain things jar it for you [like the fans].”

As self-proclaimed nerds, Fall Out Boy says that they would be just as happy playing for 5 people as they would for 5,000 people. Andy Hurly, the band’s drummer, says that he feels “agitated when people take the reward of music more seriously than the art.” He would rather play for the sake of doing something he is passionate about, rather than playing for future success. Playing for the love of music must be right on the money, because Fall Out Boy has gained huge success all over the world and received many awards. The accolades include the MTV2 award for “Sugar We’re Going Down,” a nomination for a Grammy award for Best New Artist, 3 Teen Choice Awards, and the MTV Music Video Award for “Dance, Dance.”

But, luckily for the fans, Fall Out Boy does not slow down. With their latest album, Infinity On High, sales have sky-rocketed and awards will surely be dealt. From their first single on the album, “This Ain’t a Scene, it’s an Arms Race,” to their latest single, “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs,” fans have responded in a very positive light. And, do not think this praise goes unnoticed. Fall Out Boy is known for showing their appreciation. “We feel indebted to our fans and will always try to pay them back,” says Pete Wentz, the bassist and backing vocalist.

Fall Out Boy made some waves at this year’s 2007 Video Music Awards on MTV. Along with fellow tour members, Gym Class Heroes, Fall Out Boy rocked out with multiple performances at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. The band’s energy and talent continued to keep their audiences pumped up all night long. Along with contributing to the entertainment for the night, Fall Out Boy also proved that they were worthy of the winner’s circle when they gladly accepted the award for Best Group.

Also in attendance on October 23 will be Gym Class Heroes, a hip-hop genre band from Geneva, New York. With their latest album, As Cruel As School Children, Gym Class Heroes received a lot of feedback from the song, “Cupid’s Chokehold.” The sound of this album can mostly be defined as “funk-flavored mainstream R&B of the 80’s.” Also being a very well-known band, one can expect an exciting and electrifying performance from the Gym Class Heroes.

Plain White T’s and Cute is What We Aim For will also deliver a fan-shrieking-hands-in-the-air performance. Plain White T’s have been taking the world by storm with their hit single, “Hey There, Delilah,” from their smash album, Every Second Counts. The power-pop band with intellectual lyrics, Cute is What We Aim For, emerged in 2005, and has increased in popularity through music websites like PureVolume and Myspace. These famous bands will take the stage and begin a wonderful night of appreciated talent! Make sure to mark your calendars, because this will be a night that you do not want to miss! So, call today and place your orders – tickets will sell fast!
