Downtown Fight Night

Fight For the Right!

Downtown Fight Night Logo

Ladies and Gentleman, bring out those boxing gloves because Downtown Fight Night is back at the Frank Erwin Center! Come out and enjoy a brawling good time on November 3 to see the welterweight title on the line.

Gilbert “Boogie” Vera challenging Ray Lino “Randy” Gatica will be the main event of the night to try and win over the welterweight title. Ray Lino “Randy” Gatica took the title home last June at the Texas Title Fight at the Frank Erwin Center. This is a much anticipated event which has required the two boxers to diligently train day and night. But, this match involves more than just these two men, it involves their families as well. The Vera and Gatica families are very well known around the Austin area and boxing runs in their blood. Vera’s father, Gilbert Sr., was a Texas Golden Gloves heavyweight champion and Gatica’s father, Freddy, went to the Golden Gloves nationals in Lake Placid and owns and operates a local boxing gym.

This should prove to be an exciting match because Vera is known for taking only 1 minute and 55 seconds when he knocked out his opponent in the second round to win the super lightweight crown, which he will renounce in order to compete for the welterweight title. Gatica is also a strong competitor remembered for taking a brief 2 minutes and 44 seconds, within the first round, to triumphantly box his rival to the ground. This allowed him to claim the welterweight title, which he will be defending on November 3 in this combat.

Other boxers on the card at this time include former Golden Gloves heavyweight champion Todd “Pop Pop” Subocz and some of Austin’s rising stars such as, Casey “The Wizard” Ramos, Curtis Meeks, Ryan Lawson, Thomas Bloodworth and Adauto Gonzalez plus, Bonnie Joe McGee, Josue Moreno and more. Card subject to change.

With a night of such intensity and fists flying everywhere, who could miss this opportunity to see Gilbert “Boogie” Vera duke it out with Ray Lino “Randy” Gatica to see who will walk away a champion! Not only a champion of their own skin but one with the welterweight title!

The show begins at 7:30 P.M. on November 3 and ticket prices are either $20, $30, $50 Floor and $100 VIP. The VIP ticket includes a pre-show rib eye steak dinner and access to the DeWALT Guaranteed Tough Club. Tickets are on sale now, so don’t waste any more time! Go purchase your tickets today to see one crazy, intense night of boxing that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
