LOOK WHO’S COMING…

Damien Rice

Damien Rice
Bass Concert Hall
Wednesday, May 9 at 8pm

Damien Rice— thanks to his raw and seductive lyrics and voice, this young Irish singer/songwriter is hailed as the decade’s most evocative troubador. “At once spare and elegant, with an equal flair for whisper-quiet simplicity and orchestral bombast, Damien Rice’s music conveys emotional intensity and straightforward beauty at the same time.” — NPR

Harry Connick, Jr. ‘My New Orleans Tour’
Thursday, May 10 at 8pm
Bass Concert Hall

Connick is currently on a national tour in support of his two new albums, Oh, My NOLA and Chanson du Vieux Carré. On these albums Connick puts new spins on New Orleans classics, capturing the unique spirit and beauty of his hometown. “New Orleans is a city of paradox. Sin, salvation, sex, sanctification, so intertwined yet so separate.” says Connick. “Jazz, gospel, brass band, rhythm and blues, country, funk aren’t all the styles played in New Orleans,” he emphasizes. “But they’re the ones I wanted to play around with.”
Harry Connick, Jr.

BRIGHT EYES announces the 2007 national tour includes a stop in Austin at the UT Performing Arts Center! Just in time for the band’s 7th studio album, Cassadaga, set for release April 9, 2007. Bright Eyes are the musical vehicle of Conor Oberst, a young singer/songwriter from Nebraska who first attracted the attention of the indie music world in 1994— when he was just 14 years old— as the singer and guitarist for Commander Venus (disbanded in 1997).
