UIL

The University Interscholastic League, more commonly known as the UIL, has its roots here in Austin. The University of Texas president, Dr. S.E. Merez, decided in 1904 that the University needed to reach out to high school students. Since its inception, the UIL has sponsored extracurricular activities in academics, athletics and music for thousands of high school students across the state.

In 1921, El Paso High won the very first boys basketball State Championship. Come to the Frank Erwin Center in March to find out who wins this year!
