Disney On Ice Presents Princess Wishes

Disney On Ice Logo

Straight from the classics, Disney On Ice presents Princess Wishes beautifully recreates the defining moments when seven Disney princesses’ wishes are fulfilled. Through artistic skating and graceful acrobatics, Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Mulan, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White experience their dreams coming true with Tinker Bell as their guide.

Disney On Ice presents Princess Wishes
A Conversation with Choreographer Cindy Stuart

Q: What was your vision for the choreography of this show?
A: Because I wanted to give each princess’ story a unique feel, I had many different visions in approaching this show. For example, for Cinderella, I wanted the segment to be elegant and graceful. This is in stark contrast to the market scene at the beginning of the Aladdin production number. We sought to recreate the chaos of that scene where Aladdin runs through the market after being chased by guards, harem girls, laundry ladies and market people. I’m really proud of how this “organized chaos” turned out. We had a great deal of detail to incorporate for each group of characters and each one pretty much had to be choreographed individually.

Q: Can you describe the unique styles used for each of the princesses?

A: For each princess story, we really wanted to have a specific style since they’re all so different. For instance, Jasmine and Aladdin have a very athletic style, simply because of what she’s wearing and her personality being a bit more adventurous. Cinderella is very soft, demure and romantic. Mulan is tough, yet soft at the same time. So, we really studied their personalities to derive the movements.

Q: What was your one wish when you were a little girl? Has it come true?

A: As a child I went to an ice show, and I knew at six years old that my wish was to star in one. I had that opportunity, and now I have the opportunity to choreograph for Disney On Ice, so yes, my wish has come true.
