George Lopez Returns

George Lopez

Brace yourselves and hold on tight because George Lopez is returning to the Frank Erwin Center once again to take the audience for a wild ride! That’s right! “America’s Mexican,” George Lopez, will be coming to the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday, June 2. Lopez is one of the leading comedic talents in the entertainment industry today. He has made audiences laugh weekly with his television sitcom “The George Lopez Show” and now he is bringing these laughs to you!

A native of Los Angeles who grew up in San Fernando Valley’s Mission Hills, Lopez devotes much time to the community. He was raised by his grandmother--whom many of his jokes revolve around. He became a popular stand-up comedian, especially among the Latino community for his satirizing of Mexican-American life and culture in the United States. Much of his humor was drawn from the financial poverty of his upbringing and of the Latino community in general.

Lopez has regularly sold out large venues with his stand-up comedy act and earned a Grammy nomination with his sophomore comedy album. In 2004, Lopez released his autobiography, Why You Crying?, which made the New York Times Bestsellers Top 20. Despite his ceaseless schedule, Lopez finds time to contribute to several charities and lend support to humanitarian and artistic causes. He has maintained his own charity, The George and Ann Lopez/Richie Alarcon CARE Foundation, which supports community and arts education.

From rags to riches, fame and fortune, George Lopez’s life is one of true inspiration. Please join us on June 2 at 8 p.m. for a night filled with laughter!
