Hot Summer Days!

Backstage Sun

By now, we’ve all had our fill of the good ol’ Texas heat that our state is famous for and we’re ready for a break. Well, what better way to take a break than with an escape into the air-conditioned comfort of the Frank Erwin Center for one of our many hot shows.

First up this month is country music sensation Keith Urban with special guest The Wreckers on Tuesday, July 3. A decade after his American debut in 1997, Grammy winner, Urban, has proved one of the most consistent and exciting singers on the country music scene and when he visits the Frank Erwin Center to promote his latest album, Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing, you will witness firsthand the talents that have brought him so far. The Wreckers are on tour promoting their first album Stand Still Look Pretty. Former solo artists, Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp have put together an album that focuses on expressionism of a young heart using the sounds of the banjo and mandolin. The result is modern country at its best.

Ready for a little more country music? Great! We’ve got the answer when Martina McBride and special guest Little Big Town hit the stage at the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday, July 14. Since her debut in 1992, McBride has maintained constant presence on the country charts and has also enjoyed crossover success in the pop and adult contemporary genres. As one of country music’s most consistent stars, McBride has another strong outing with Waking Up Laughing and her debut single, “Anyway,” is the fastest rising single of her career. Little Big Town is a quartet consisting of two women, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Roads, and two men, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet, each taking turns as the lead singer which is unique in the country music world. Their latest album Road to Here has celebrated platinum sales status and in May the band won their first ever major award as the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Vocal Group.

With five gold albums, sales exceeding six million, more than 20 No.1 radio hits, and a mantle of Dove Awards as well as Grammy nominations, you won’t want to miss the newsboys “GO Tour” when it comes to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday, October 20 with special guests Kutless and newworldson. Known for their amazing live performances, the newsboys continue to sellout festivals and concerts worldwide, satisfying diehard fans and winning new ones in the process

It may seem as though we’re announcing this next show a bit early but we’re just too excited to keep the good news to ourselves… Playhouse Disney Live! is headed to The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on Thursday, December 27 and we’re tickled pink. Playhouse Disney Live! represents the first time that characters from this enormously popular block of Disney Channel’s “Playhouse Disney” programs will be together on the same stage, creating interactive moments for children and their families. The show spotlights characters from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Little Einsteins” and “Handy Manny,” as well as the stars of a brand new show “My Friends Tigger & Pooh.” This show is a must see for your little ones as their favorite “Playhouse Disney” stars will be brought to life right before their eyes.
