MARATHON
A brand-new theatrical project brought to you by Austin musicians Jesse Sublett and Darden Smith

In partnership with the UT PAC and the Department of Theatre and Dance, Marathon is a new work in development and workshopping in UT’s Lab Theatre. Marathon is a story of a man’s journey to the father he never knew and the West Texas town that created a legend. The story captures the spirit of West Texas; from the beauty of desert mesas to the drama and dreams of small-town six-man football. Told as a Greek tragedy fused with a hip sensibility, humor, visuals and a live band, Marathon is not only a great new play for Austin but also a part of the PAC’s commitment to incubating new works. Stay tuned to http://utpac.org for more details on this exciting new project!

And what’s up next for UT PAC…
The NEW Bass Concert Hall
Bass Concert Hall closed in May to undergo an extensive 18-month makeover. The PAC threw a “Big Intermission” breakfast party May 21 with breakfast tacos graciously provided by the Four Seasons and a live broadcast from KGSR and morning DJ extraordinaire Bryan Beck. Party guests received commemorative tickets pinned to squares of the orange carpet from the Bass lobby. The tickets can be redeemed for a PAC performance upon the renovation’s completion. Bass is scheduled to reopen in late 2008 with a grand reopening scheduled for January of 2009.

The $14.7 million project will give the 25-year-old venue a new look inside and out. Design plans include bringing the 3,000-seat theatre up to 21st century fire & safety codes, plus:
