Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends

A Match Made in Gospel Heaven

Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends

Bill Gaither is without question one of the most successful Christian artists of the century. He has received eight Grammy Awards and 28 Dove Awards. He has produced 21 gold albums, 22 platinum albums, and 2 multi-platinum albums. He was named among the top 75 American Entrepreneurs in 1997 and “Christian Songwriter of the Century” in 2000. Despite this staggering list of achievements, he lists something much humbler as one of the greatest things he has ever done. It occurred in 1962, when he married his wife Gloria.

She became not only his wife and mother to their three children, but his writing partner as well. They have shared a mutual commitment to a “larger purpose” and to that which is lasting. They have followed this philosophy for more than 40 years and have met with great success through it. The collaborations of Bill and Gloria have resulted in more than 600 popular gospel songs, hundreds of recordings, numerous awards, a dozen musicals, a collection of books, and their induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

After decades of unprecedented musical success, Bill and Gloria still operate their business from Bill’s home town of Alexandria, Indiana, and they dwell in the same home in which they raised their family. They live a lifestyle focused on investing all of their resources into eternal things.

“Gloria and I have never claimed to have God figured out, but we do know that if He could use two imperfect people like us to communicate His Truth to the world, He can use everyone sitting in the audience, working on our staff or singing with us,” Gaither says. “If we have done anything right over the years, I hope we have built bridges where people could connect with God and with each other. That is what started us writing and what will keep us writing for the rest of our lives.”

Let your spirit soar to the Frank Erwin Center on February 9 to witness Bill Gaither & the Homecoming Friends’ amazing collaboration of writing and musical talent!
