Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends

Bill Gaither: School Teacher, Writer, Musician

Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends

Bill Gaither, elementary school teacher, gospel singer and writer, entrepreneur, rock star? Bill Gaither may not live the rock star lifestyle, but he has been outperforming other far-more famous rock legends. Gaither is so popular he is even higher on the Rock Rich List than the Grateful Dead and Ozzy Osbourne. Bill Gaither’s Homecoming Tour began in 1991 and in 2004, it was more successful than Elton John and Fleetwood Mac. Since its inception, Gaither’s Homecoming Tour has played in such notable venues as the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Dozens of musicians had their start with the Homecoming Tour like Amy Grant and Mark Lowry.

The real treat behind the Homecoming Tour though is Bill Gaither. Bill Gaither and his wife Gloria have written over 600 songs, many of which are sung by the Gaither Vocal Band. Some of the Gaither’s songs have been performed by other famous artists like Sandi Patty and even Elvis Presley. Since he started singing and writing music in 1963, Bill Gaither has won 4 Grammy awards and over 20 Dove awards, the Christian musical industry’s equivalent.
