The smooth-toned singing sensation, Michael Bublé is returning to the USA for his 2008 Tour and he will be making a stop in Austin to entertain his fans at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on February 27.
Bublé grew up listening to his grandfather’s collection of jazz records, and on his website he highlights the importance of his grandfather in encouraging his musical tastes. Bublé says, “My grandfather was really my best friend growing up. He was the one who opened me up to a whole world of music that seemed to have been passed over by my generation. Although I like rock and roll and modern music, the first time my granddad played me the Mills Brothers, something magical happened. The lyrics were so romantic, so real... the way a song should be for me. It was like seeing my future flash before me. I wanted to be a singer and I knew that this was the music that I wanted to sing.”
Michael Bublé’s career began when Michael McSweeney, associate to former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, enjoyed one of his performances at a business party. Bublé gave him an album, which led to an invitation to sing at the wedding of Mulroney’s daughter. At the wedding, Bublé was introduced to David Foster, a multi-Grammy award winning producer and a Warner Brothers record executive. He signed Bublé to his 143 record label, and the rest is history. Bublé released a self-titled album in 2003, which went platinum and sold about 4 million records worldwide. Bublé won the Best New Artist award at the Juno Awards of 2004, and his self-titled album was nominated for Album of the Year. He then continued to deliver platinum material in 2005 with his next album, It’s Time. His most recent album, Call Me Irresponsible, released in May 2007, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and rose to No. 1 in its second week. The popular hit single, “Everything,” has taken the world by storm and made a home on the US Billboard charts.
Along with his passion for creating great music in the studio, performing on stage is pure paradise for Michael Bublé. “I just love getting in front of people,” he says. “It’s so important to be in touch with your audience. They’ve paid their money. I want them to be entertained. If they want to cry or laugh or dance or sing or yell, they can do whatever they want. My responsibility is just to take them away.”
Tell everyone you know about this great opportunity to see Michael Bublé, whose irrepressible spirit, engaging humor, and confident charisma once led the New York Times to call him “an entertainer who is completely at home on the stage.”
