The 15-year-old singer/songwriter/actress will perform as a double bill appearing as her Disney Channel character, Hannah Montana, and as herself singing material from her first solo album, Meet Miley Cyrus. Released in June as a two-disc set featuring the "Hannah Montana 2" soundtrack, this collection debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and reached platinum status after one week.
Born in Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, Miley Cyrus attended Heritage Middle School, but now has a private tutor. She grew up on her parents' farm outside of Nashville. Cyrus is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia "Tish" Cyrus. She was named Destiny Hope because her parents believed that she would accomplish great things. Cyrus gained her nickname "Miley" because she kept smiling ("Smiley") as a youngster.
Cyrus shot to fame last year as the star of the Disney Channel television series "Hannah Montana," in which the teen acts alongside her real-life dad, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. The series focuses on Miley Stewart, who lives a double life as an average teenage girl at school during the day, and a famous pop singer, Hannah Montana, at night.
