Nine Inch Nails

March 24

Industrial Sound With Bite

If grating guitars, churning drum samples and tortured lyrics are your idea of good music, you won’t want to miss Nine Inch Nails when Trent Reznor and his touring band come to the Frank Erwin Center on March 24.. Reznor emerged in 1989 to critical acclaim for his debut album, Pretty Hate Machine, and is now considered rock royalty. Supporting his newest release, With Teeth, Reznor has been successfully infusing industrial music, pop sensibility and thoughtful lyrics for almost 20 years – and he’s still managed to keep his edge.

Reznor tasted success almost immediately after Pretty Hate Machine was released. His debut went triple platinum in the U.S. with the help of hit singles “Head Like a Hole” and “Down in It,” the latter being the first song Reznor ever wrote. Reznor has proved he isn’t just a flash in the pan, and has continually released successful albums ever since. In addition to his major studio releases, he has also consistently released collections of remixes and b-sides that reveal his tireless work ethic and seemingly unending creative drive.

Reznor is not only recognized for his musical and producing capabilities; he also developed a reputation for pushing provocative and controversial music videos. Acclaimed director Mark Romanek was the man behind Nine Inch Nail’s “Closer” video. The video’s stunning imagery thrilled fans and pushed the boundaries of censors who banned the video from being aired in its entirety on television.

With Teeth was released in March of 2005 and was written and recorded after Reznor’s battle with alcoholism and drug abuse. Instead of trying to bury his personal battle, Reznor spoke from it and turned it into a creative piece – something that has become typical of the work of Nine Inch Nails.
