Comedy in the Fast Lane

April 7

Laugh Out Loud

Quite the crew of comedians will appear at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center for what’s sure to be one of the funniest nights of the year! Katt Williams, J. Anthony Brown, Juan Villarreal and Gary Owen are set to perform Friday, April 7 at 9pm at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center. Tickets are already on sale, so don’t miss out!!

Before Katt Williams was cutting up as a comedian, he was cutting up (or rather, dissecting) because he was studying to become a scientist. Williams eventually gave up a full science scholarship to the National Science Academy to pursue his true passion in life – comedy. He buckled down with his comedy career and went to Los Angeles, eventually appearing on BET’s Comic View while maintaining a loyal following at the Hollywood Park Casino.

Funny man J. Anthony Brown says that he likes to, “ride the spectrum of funny. I’ll sing, incorporate skits and vignettes, do costume changes, and still tell you a joke.” This tailor turned comedian will most definitely have you in stitches (sorry!). Brown has a laundry list of impressive credentials to his name including: head staff writer for the Arsenio Hall Show, host for Comic View, and actor in the movie Triple X- State of the Union.

Texan native Juan Villarreal is all over the map of comedy. Villarreal has performed large venues with Jamie Foxx and George Lopez, made appearances on BET’s Comic View and Que Loco (Galavision). Villarreal has toured with Cedric the Entertainer and on Que Loco & Loco Comedy jams. With these credentials on his curriculum vitae, we can’t wait to see what he will bring to Austin!

Gary Owen has a long history of hilarity. From ‘class clown’ in high school to getting in trouble with his superiors in the navy for always laughing, his path in life has always been funny. After a year of stand-up he was named “The Funniest Serviceman in America”. This is no small feat, unless you compare it to his other title, “Funniest Black Comedian in San Diego.” Especially when you consider he’s a white man.
