Carlos Mencia

October 20

You Think It, He Says It

Dixie Chicks

Carlos Mencia has, what you might call, a problem with censoring himself—which is why this guy and his outrageous act should never be missed!! Learn what’s in Mencia’s mind when he appears at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center with his ‘Punisher Tour’ Friday, October 20.

Mencia is renowned for tellin’ it just like he sees it on every topic from race, sex, gender, politics and religion. With an unofficial goal to cross every liberal sensibility, Mencia seems to thrive on controversy. Though some call his in-your-face humor a ploy for shock value laughs, Mencia holds to the claim that his routines are all about “creating comedy about all races, ethnicities and religions equally”—an equal opportunity offender, if you will.

Just because he is awesome don’t think you can pin Mencia down as ‘just a comedian,’ this guy has been all over the board since he hit the big time in 1994 on HBO’s Loco Slam. After Loco Slam, Mencia hosted Funny is Funny! on Galavision in 1998 and became apart of “The Three Amigos” with Freddy Soto and Pablo Francisco in 2001. Not long after, he began making appearances on TV shows such as Moesha and The Shield. He also starred in the movies Outta Time and The Proud Family.

Keeping active as usual, Mencia is already brokering new deals with Warner/Electra/Asylum’s sub-label, Parallel Records. According to Comedy Central’s Web site, Mencia and Parallel Records are planning a duel release of his debut CD, Just Laughs, this summer in English and in Spanish.
