Summertime Is Finally Here
Schools’ out for SUMMER! Bring on the swimming pools, neighborhood Bar-B-Qs, and reruns on TV because for the next three months the world is suddenly different. Wondering what to do with all this extra time during the day? Looking for some fun to spice up your summer? The Erwin Center is just the place!
First up on our summer show list are the Renegades Extreme Fighters. These bad boys use combinations of martial arts, boxing, kickboxing and wrestling in the wild attempt to KO their opponent or at least pin them to the floor of the cage! Come out and cheer for your favorite fighter as they kick, punch, grapple and chop (but no biting!) their way to victory on June 9 at 8PM!!
Rumble on Red River featuring Killeen’s Light Heavyweight Marcus “Too Much” Johnson and Super Middleweight “King” James Johnson, Jr. will be at the Erwin Center June 17. Boxing is a sport that has surpassed the ages and continues to be a large part of our society. Though the fight card has not yet been issued, we are sure it will shape up to be a night full of terrific showdowns!
Come one, come all and see The Greatest Show on Earth® when it swoops into Austin June 28-July 2! Everyone knows that there is nothing quite like the circus—where else can you see people being shot out of cannons, death defying leaps and ‘cuddly’ animals with big mouths that people stick their heads into? Come to the Erwin Center and let Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Save Your Day from the EverydaySM!
Just because it’s early in the summer, don’t think you can’t start planning for fall!! We already have some awesome fall shows lined up to get you pumped! On September 10, the American Idols Live Tour 2006 hits the Erwin Center stage! All your favorites from the Top 10 will be here doing a few songs together as a group as well as showing their unique styles in individual performances.
Carlos Mencia—best known for his ‘Mind of Menica’ show on Comedy Central— will appear at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center October 20. Carlos Mencia is well known for his ‘colorful’ commentary on most things—ranging from immigration reform to religious ‘toleration’. Don’t miss the liberally-offensive, yet utterly hilarious comedian when he brings his Punisher Tour 2006 to The Theatre at the Erwin Center on October 20!
Country music sweethearts, the Dixie Chicks, are set to appear in Austin October 1! Though these Chicks have been a ‘Long Time Gone’ we are sure they will make up for their absence with some fun times, good music and awesome lyrics!!
We would like to note a correction in photo credit for the Luis Miguel Flashback page in the March issue of Applause. The photographer was Carlos San Miguel. We apologize for this oversight.
