Dixie Chicks
Still Making Headlines and History

Sensational songstresses the Dixie Chicks are coming to the Frank Erwin Center on October 1 during their “Accidents and Accusations Tour” to prove to their home state why they are proud Texans. The Dixie Chicks took the short way to the top of the billboard charts on May 31, shooting straight to No. 1 with their newest album, Taking the Long Way. This record-breaking news beats out their last historic accomplishment of being the first female group to have two records debut at No. 1. According to PRNewswire, the album also has the best first week’s sales for any female act on the Top 200 in 2006.
Cutting straight through the controversy surrounding the Chicks’ personal and political beliefs, the press has responded to the album with a barrage of glowing reviews. Rolling Stone wrote that “Taking the Long Way embraces the depth and fury of classic rock while remaining true to the trio’s Texas roots.” The album intentionally steers away from the carefree sound they exuded in their prior albums, heading fearlessly into the personal and intimate side of the band. The Chicks sought out producer Rick Ruben (Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Run-DMC) for the album, which spotlights an all-original line-up of 14 Dixie Chicks songs.
