BY THE HAND OF THE FATHER
April 8 • Hogg Auditorium
Alejandro Escovedo makes his triumphant return to By the Hand of the Father, a critically acclaimed musical play inspired by the lives of five immigrant fathers who were the first generation of Mexican-Americans. The play and special celebration concert will be performed by Escovedo with special guests Rosie Flores, Rick Trevino, Ruben Ramos, and more on Saturday, April 8 at 7PM.


LANG LANG
April 9 • Bass Concert Hall
Child prodigy turned international piano sensation Lang Lang arrives in the Live Music Capital of the world to make his UT performing Arts Center debut on April 9. Celebrated in all the music capitals, this child prodigy captures the spirit of every piece he plays from the vigorous Chopin Prelude to the tender Beethoven Adagio. Critics say you will “gape in awestruck amazement!”

ELVIS COSTELLO
April 11 • Bass Concert Hall
Mark your calendars for a phenomenal event! On April 11, Elvis Costello’s Symphony Tour hits Austin! The UT Performing Arts Center presents Elvis Costello with Cap City’s own symphony performing two unforgettable sets, the first a suite from Il Sogno, Costello’s celebrated full-length orchestral work based on Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. After intermission, it’s classic Costello!


TINARWIWEN
April 13 • Hogg Auditorium
Making their Austin debut— Tinariwen, a Malian band of rebels who put down their guns, picked up guitars, and became “the hottest band out of Africa” according to BBC Radio. The band’s desert blues was born of the circumstances of exile and suffering. Experience rock and roll rebellion with a difference on April 13 at the UT Performing Arts Center.

LOS GRANDES DE LA MUSICA TAJANA
April 22 • Bass Concert Hall
In celebration of their 35th anniversary, UT’s Center for Mexican-American (CMAS) studies is throwing a party— Tejano style! CMAS & the UT Performing Arts Center’s ArtesAméricas program present Los Grands de la Musica Tejana, the legends of tejano live in concert, with Grammy-winners Little Joe, Sunny Ozuna, and Ruben Ramos. Don’t miss this celebration of Mexican-American/Texas heritage.


RUSSELL PETERS
April 22 • Hogg Auditorium
Comedian Russell Peters brings his riotous show to the UT Performing Arts Center. Renowned for his quick wit and piercing mimicry, Peters has mastered the art of traversing between hilarious characters of all races and cultures. Prepare to be electrified with laughter Saturday, April 22 at 8PM in Hogg Memorial Auditorium.
