Luis Miguel

November 4

A Serenade North of the Border

Luis Miguel will be performing at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center Friday, November 4. Buy your tickets now to be one of the lucky people to hear the voice of the first Latin singer to completely sell-out New York’s Madison Square Garden. This show will mark the first time the Performing Arts Center and the Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center present an event together.

Miguel has been recording and performing for the past 20 years. He will be touring this fall on his newest album, ‘Mexico en la Piel’ (Mexico Under My Skin) beginning in September. ‘Mexico en la Piel’ could be described as a pop album that incorporates the traditional sounds from Mexico, including mariachi and ranchera music. Alex Henderson for All Music Guide says it’s ‘undeniably one of the finest, most enriching albums of [Miguel’s] career’.

Miguel employs the sounds of Mexico’s finest repertory band, Mariachi Vargas. In its 115 year history, Mariachi Vargas has had numerous lineups – but at this point is really about the sound, culture and traditions of Mexico.

On this album, Mariachi Vargas performs with Miguel on Mexican standards like Jose Alfredo Jimenez’s ‘Un Mundo Raro’, Federico Mendez’s ‘De Que Manera Te Olvido’ and Alvaro Carrillo’s ‘Luz de Luna’. He also performs a rendition of Consuelo Velasquez’s ‘Que Seas Feliz’, a song that has been used as the theme for ‘Apuesta por un Amor’, a popular telenovela (Latin soap opera) on Univision.
