Luis Miguel Romances Us Once Again

Arriving in Austin on November 4, a month and a half into his Mexico en la Piel tour, Luis Miguel has already taken the country by storm. Miguel kicked off this epic tour in Fresno, California on September 13. He will perform in 40 U.S. cities before going on to South America and will end his tour in Mexico.

‘Mexico en la Piel’ has been promoted as not being just a pop album, but as a tribute to the vibrant tradition of mariachi and ranchero heritage in Mexico. Although Miguel has included mariachis on past albums, Mexico is his first, mariachi-only record. The album debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top Albums and was winner of the Best Regional Mexican Album at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Miguel has been in the spotlight since winning his first Grammy Award at the age of 12 for his duet with Sheena Easton “Me Gustas Tal Como Eres” (I Like You Just as You Are). Since that time he has added a long list of accomplishments to his name. He stands as the only Latino artist to have two albums recorded entirely in Spanish (Romance and Segundo Romance) go platinum. At the first annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2000 he won Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Album (Amarte Es Un Placer). His last U.S. tour earned him the Latin Tour of the Year Award at the 2004 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
