Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo

Music, the Midway and Mutton Bustin' at the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo

The 68th Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo will take place March 12-26 at the Travis County Expo Center. The annual event includes 15 days of action-packed festivities including a carnival, livestock show, extreme bull riding, rodeo and concerts. Last year, the rodeo gave over $1.3 million in scholarships to young people in Texas.

The 2005 entertainment line-up is better than ever and provides a diverse musical flavor for all to enjoy. Dierks Bentley, the Charlie Daniels Band, Clay Walker and Kevin Fowler will all help season this rodeo with some traditional country flavor. But the music acts don't stop at country - the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo will also feature rock and roll, rap and funk. After a sell-out performance at last year's rodeo, Cross Canadian Ragweed will kick off this year's concerts with their own brand of rock and roll. And not every rodeo can boast that they have rappers alongside roping! This will be the first year a rap artist will perform at the rodeo. Nelly will bring his melodic, singsong style of rapping to the stage. If your feeling a little funky, Maroon 5 will keep the groove going with funk rhythms, soul melodies, searing guitars and a powerful rock bass.

After you have your fill of music and barbeque, or on second thought maybe before you have your fill of barbeque, mosey on down the midway and take a ride on the Crazy Mouse or win a stuffed animal for your honey (guys can be honeys, too)!

Then of course there is the bronco bustin' and livestock judging taking place and you won't want to miss that, especially if you're never been to a rodeo. How would you ever explain to someone that you live in Texas and have never been to a rodeo?

Tickets for the 2005 edition of the Texas Fair and Rodeo can be purchased through TexasBoxOffice.com.
