March Madness and More at the Frank Erwin Center
This month is going to be a terrific month for high school basketball fans, arena football fans and gospel fans alike. This may seem like an odd mix of events to have in one place, but we like having a whole lotta things here at the Erwin Center.
The roar of March will be heard under our roof right at the beginning of the month with the voices of gospel music makers, Sisters in the Spirit. Lead by musical director Sheila E., Sisters in the Spirit is an entourage of vocalists, ministers and writers who celebrate particularly the accomplishments of women. These ladies will be at The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center Sunday, March 6, and tickets are still available.
The Wranglers record picked up February 19th with a win after a rough start this season with three losses in a row. We're going to be cheering for them to make up for the rough start when they play two home games this month. One of the games is going to be a Lone Star face-off between the Wranglers and the Dallas Desperados. It's good to support Texas teams, but if we have to choose a favorite, we'll keep rooting for the hometown team!
For those who love high school basketball, you already know the UIL state tournaments will be here this month! From March 3-5, girls basketball teams from across the state will compete here for their championship. From March 10-12, the boys basketball teams will battle it out for the number one slot. Some of these ball players are going to be well-known some day…and you can see them now at the start of their stardom before everyone knows their names!
We also have tickets on sale this month for an urban theatre performance (Tyler Perry's “Meet the Browns”), an equestrian art show (the “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions) and a contemporary Christian music concert (Steven Curtis Chapman). We hope to see you at the Erwin Center this month - or at least our ticket window!
