Welcome
2005!
Well first off, HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope you had a wonderful
holiday season. We all have a lot to look forward to this
coming year: new goals to accomplish, new challenges to overcome
and a fresh start. Here at the Frank Erwin Center we have
some goals of our own. We plan on giving you our very best,
providing you an impressive calendar of concerts, family
shows, sporting events and more for you to enjoy after all
your hard work. Here’s a glance at what we’ve
been working on for you!
First off, for the sports fans, we’ve got men’s
and women’s basketball games galore. If you’ve
never been to a game, don’t miss out! Go to our Web
site (uterwincenter.com) and take a look at their schedules.
If UT isn’t your alma mater, find out when the Longhorns
play your old school or your favorite school and come on
out and see these athletes in action. They are truly a marvel
and the excitement and fun are contagious.
Now, George Strait fans, try not to give a whoop out loud
if you’re reading this at work or in a crowded elevator,
but…he’s coming to the Erwin Center. Yup. You
heard me right. George Strait will be here January 28.
Arena football fans will have more than the New Year to
celebrate when the Austin Wranglers make their first season
appearance at the Erwin Center on January 30! Needless to
say, their short-term goal this year is to win against the
Philadelphia Soul. Come out and help root them on to a win
in their first game of the season.
The Wranglers game will end our January calendar of entertainment,
but don’t think we’re going to drop the ball
there! We’re already selling tickets for February events,
including the Harlem Globetrotters on February 10. We will
also have tickets on sale starting January 3 for Sesame Street
Live February 17 – 20. “Elmo’s Coloring
Book” teaches children about patience, cooperation
and teamwork while entertaining parents and children alike
with cleverly written scripts and songs like “Sunny
Days” and the memorable “I Love Trash”!
We should also mention that there will be a lot of loving
and lobbing going on inside the Erwin Center February 3 with
the Gibson Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout featuring Andy
Roddick, Taylor Dent and Host Jim Courier.
We hope to have some fun for everyone this year. Keep checking
in with us on our Web site and keep reading Applause to see
what we’ve got planned for you. In the meantime, we
wish you a bright New Year and hope to see you soon!
