Down the Stretch: Catch the Longhorn Women’s Basketball Team!

The Texas women's basketball team will close out its 2004-05 regular season schedule this month and then head into post-season play. The 2005 Big 12 Tournament takes place in early March at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. The Longhorns won the Big 12 in 2003 and finished as runner-up in 2004.

Following the Big 12 Tournament, Texas and Texas Tech University will serve in a unique capacity as co-hosts of the 2005 NCAA Championship First/Second Rounds. They will co-host the eight-team preliminary round at Reunion Arena in Dallas on Saturday and Monday, March 19 and 21. Texas and Texas Tech are guaranteed to start NCAA play in Dallas if they advance to the NCAA tourney.

This marks the first year that the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship has moved to an eight-team "pod" format for first/second round play. There are eight first/second round sites across the country. Two winners from each "pod" advance to the next week of Round 16 (Sweet 16/Elite Eight) play. This year, the NCAA Women's Final Four takes place at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis.

Ticket information for the remainder of the Texas home games against the tough Big 12 Conference goes as follows, as well as NCAA Dallas First/Second Round ticket information.

Wed. Feb. 2 - State Farm Lone Star Showdown: Texas A&M - 7 pm
Wed. Feb. 9 - Nebraska - 7 pm
