Thanks for a Great Year!
To get Central Texas feeling the winter season when there’s no snow to be found, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is making a stop off in Austin on December 19 to bring the holiday spirit. They may not have Christmas lights, but they do have laser lights. But this isn’t just any flashy rock show – this is rock opera, where guitars and opera singers share the same stage. Tickets are still on sale if you would like a little rock in your Silent Night.
To start off the New Year on the right foot, the Lord of the Dance will take the stage in The Theatre at the Frank Erwin Center on Friday, January 6 and tickets are on sale now. These dancers’ fancy footwork and rhythmic talent catapulted Irish dancing into the international spotlight.
If you look up in the sky in February, say between the 16-19, you may see something blue and furry hovering above the Erwin Center. Is it a bird? A plane? No! It’s Super Grover from Sesame Street Live! Tickets go on sale Monday, December 19 for this all new production of Sesame Street Live.
On February 24 the pipes and drums of The Black Watch, the senior Highland Regiment in the British Army, will be performing in the arena. Come see and hear the sounds of Scotland when The Black Watch and The Band of the Welsh Guards visit Austin. Tickets go on sale to the public Monday, December 12 at Noon.
Be sure to check inside this issue of Applause to find out about special pre-sales for Applause readers for Sesame Street Live and The Black Watch and The Band of the Welsh Guards performances.
With a history not quite as long as The Black Watch, but impressive none the less, the Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year. On February 9 the Globetrotters will be taking over UT’s home court to perform athletic feats in comedic style. Tickets to see the Globetrotters are on sale now.
