Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Finds the “Lost Christmas Eve”
Far from a traditional orchestra, Trans-Siberian Orchestra captivates
its audience with unique sound and captivating production. The
two and a half hour performance showcases a laser-light show,
gallons of fog, explosive pyro, and fake snow. The lightshow
by Bryan Hartley, designer for such acts as KISS and Meatloaf,
dazzles with vibrant colors that dance in precise harmony with
the music.
In 1996, Trans-Siberian Orchestra came together as the collaboration
of longtime friends Paul O’Neill, Robert Kinkel and John
Oliva. O’Neill, a rock producer, wanted to create music
that not only entertained, but swept away. His goal was to write
music that could move audiences without lyrics and lyrics that
could, simply spoken, bring tears. In conjunction with keyboardist
and TV musical director Robert Kinkel and multi-instrumentalist
Jon Oliva of Savatage, O’Neill fashioned a production
that transcended across musical boundaries.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra (or TSO to fans) played its first
show in 1999 at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, filling the
small capacity theatre. The tour rapidly grew in popularity
and consequentially broke into two touring companies to satisfy
demand for the tour.
TSO released their first album “Christmas Eve and Other
Stories” in 1996 and after radio airplay of the eighth
track “Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo 12/24,” it soon went
platinum. Their follow-up album, “The Christmas Attic” followed
the trend, delighting millions. On October 12th of this year,
TSO completes the trilogy with the release of their third Christmas
Album, “The Lost Christmas Eve.” A non-Christmas
album, “Beethoven’s Last Night” was released
in 2000 to outstanding reviews and strong anticipation for the
show, which will begin touring in 2005.
Audiences will find TSO’s “The Lost Christmas
Eve” an original production sure to be appreciated by
listeners of all musical tastes. The classical music connoisseur,
hard-rocker, and child can enjoy TSO’s clever alchemy
of rock music, stringed instruments, and emotional narration.
