Emerson Band

UFO
To Land In November with Scorpions, Tesla, & The Keith
Emerson Band
The Erwin Center hosts an international invasion of hard rock
giants, as Austin’s Own Rock Fest arrives
featuring Scorpions, Tesla, UFO, and The Keith Emerson Band.
The four icons of rock‘n’roll from Germany, America,
and the UK will take the stage in Austin on November 12.
Platinum-selling heavy rock band Scorpions, who brought the
world the hits “No One Like You”, “Send Me
an Angel”, and “Winds of Change”, was born
over thirty-five years ago in Hanover, Germany with the partnership
of musicians Klaus Meine and Rudolph Schenker. Over the next
four decades, Scorpions developed a reputation for rousing,
ground-breaking live performances, blending legendary energy
with original musical arrangements and versatile crossover efforts.
Members of Rolling Stone’s prestigious World’s 30
Greatest Rock Groups, Scorpions continue to build their legacy
as both heavy rockers and balladeers, with their patented sound
and unmistakable showmanship.
Californian hard rock quintet Tesla exploded in the late 80’s
with their second album The Great Radio Controversy, hitting
biggest with a ballad. “Love Song” helped Tesla
quickly become a double platinum-selling phenomenon. Unlike
their hair-band contemporaries, Tesla has kept its blue-collar
image, which propelled it successfully through the grunge invasion
of the early 90’s. After various individual efforts, Tesla
stormed back from breakup in 2000 and has delivered two new
albums recently, including a two-disc live set entitled “Replugged
Live”.
Keith Emerson is widely considered the greatest keyboardist
in rock history. The English organist and piano prodigy led
the progressive rock movement of the late1960’s with his
band “The Nice” and later with legendary trio “Emerson,
Lake, & Palmer”. In addition to leading ELP to produce
six platinum albums in seven years, in 2000, Emerson was honored
at the Smithsonian Institute for his groundbreaking work in
electronic music.
UFO began in London in 1969, but recently it added youth in
new drummer Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin great John Bonham.
Along with new guitarist Vinnie Moore, Bonham brings a fresh
face and beat to UFO’s long-celebrated guitar-oriented
rock led by Phil Mogg, Pete Way, and Paul Raymond. UFO joins
the world tour with a new album as well, entitled “You
Are Here”.
