Happy Graduation! Now Get To Work

First and foremost, a big “Congrats” to all of the newly anointed graduates! Welcome to the world of being underpaid and overworked. Ah, I remember the day I graduated…all smartened up from a renowned university, well on my way to the big bucks of glory. When the cold truth hit that I would not be hired as a CEO or a VP, I crashed back to reality ASAP. Now employed, I welcome all ye to the land of working stiffs!

Good thing I’m here to keep everyone entertained. Freshly added to the playbill is California jam-band Incubus. Fresh off a creative hiatus, the band is touring in promotion of their new album, A Crow Left of the Murder. Just in time for those still left “Ramen-noodling” their way through college- this September 15 show will provide just the incentive to get those degrees and get out of those lecture halls.

No Memorial Day plans? Check out A Perfect Circle on May 31 and make it a memorable Memorial weekend. Summer school got you down? Then enjoy back-to-back evenings of country music and comedy! Country legends Alabama and comedy connoisseur George Lopez provide relief June 25 and June 26. And to ease you back into school mode is Metallica on September 3. Nothing like metal-rockers to ring in a new semester.

A personal favorite of mine in the summer concert series is Sarah McLachlan. A breath of much needed fresh air, this singer-songwriter is living the dream of motherhood and stardom. Catch her at the Erwin Center on July 23. And don’t miss the final two Austin Wranglers regular season home games on May 9 and May 16.
